Here is a vase I have been working on. it is a Korai period celadon vase. The top is reconstruction with lacquer and the bottom has 2 major breaks.
I am continuing to restore this Meiji period tray. These photos show the second sanding and then more leveling work.
I am going to repair this Meiji period tray. The first steps are to sand it down using #180 and #320 sandpaper.
Here are some photos of application of basic lacquer for metal. It is a special type of lacquer that needs to be heated to cure, to about 150C–180C. I heat it over charcoal.
